Pretty Ballerina...

... in Champagne and Black.

DiCarlo Photography

I adore this look and photo by Photographer Dawn DiCarlo. Can someone please braid multiple strands of blue and pink toned yarn into my locks too!

Announcing...

dum da da dum... a collaboration between Girlfriend and Boyfriend...

J slash K the Etsy Shop by Johan/Kristina (That's us, hehe)

I'm not the only arty one in this household, boyfriend wants to get in on the Etsy action as well!

Our store is like the cooler, more street smart brother of EmmaKisstina. It is a great outlet for work that I do in other techniques and with less girly subject matter as well as a showcase of the BF's amazing photography, graphic works and illustrations.

I really look forward to working on projects for J/K as well as continuing to dream up pretty projects and images for EmmaKisstina. (Don't worry that this will take my attention away from sweet EmmaKisstina...it shall not.) It is fun to do work which is more Boyfriend friendly... many sweet buyers have said they would have shopped up my entire store if it wasn't for they're poor live-in boyfriends keeping them from decorating too girly, hehe.

You can visit and heart our store on Etsy here...
We also have started an interesting Tumblr here...

Here's a peek at some of our work...

Can you see which works are mine?

Happy Monday!

If only you could all see the ridiculously gray windy awful snow storm that is going on right now! I am at my studio today (which thankfully now has electricity and heating!!!) I am enjoying the view of the sea and harbor which looks especially cold today...ridiculously cold, like Siberia cold. The water is a deep blue gray as well as the sky and we have several feet of snow already. I adore the mountains of snow that collect on the sides of the roads as huge snow plows clean the streets too. It looks like the artic...I want to build and igloo. It most definitely is WINTER!

Four different types of oysters...all were delicious. We enjoyed them with a drop of Japanese Shiso dressing.

We also had a mini wine tasting. Two very crisp white wines.

Also a bit of chevre and Saint André was a nice touch.

I made Mousse au Chocolat for dessert but it was so yummy it was devouerd before it had the chance to be photographed, hehe.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Two years ago today was the first time I met the man I shall be spending the rest of my life with. We met on the bridge/port outside of the Royal Castle and then had a long lunch in Stockholm's most romantic restaurant, Le Rouge (a french restaurant covered in red velvet.) I swear it was love at first sight (well at least I knew that this date wasn't going to be a disaster...hadn't had much luck on first dates in a while before that). We met on a dating site in internet land actually. I can't imagine my life with out him...think if my lady friends never forced me to make a profile on the site like they did! I almost gave up too. I only met awkward weirdos on the site and was getting tired of boring dates. This date was going to be my last try... it worked out wonderfully!

Thanksgiving!

We of course don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Sweden. Kind of unfortunate because I rather like the tradition. Growing up in the States I enjoyed just a handful of traditional American Thanksgiving dinners with close friends...otherwise we tried to recreate it at home even if my Father doesn't think it is the most exciting meal to create year after year. Tomorrow I shall make a mini Thanksgiving meal for the BF because he has never experienced those weird yams and roasted marshmellows (I must admit I think that is the best part of the meal, hehe.)

I am Thankful for many things...

- Being able to support myself doing something I love, illustration
- Rainy/Snowy days
- The best family and so many others who support me (Plus an fabulous extra family to be...BF's)
- The Internet
- My health, my family's health
- The color pink
- No drama... a calm life
- Meeting my Soulmate/bestfriend/partner in crime
- Blogs
- The people who adore my work, sweet Emmakisstina fans, hehe
- Being just 26
- A roof over our heads plus extra space for a little studio
- Heating!
- I am most thankful for my bravery to pack up and leave the States in 2008 so all of the above could come true!

What are you thankful for?

Svenskt Tenn

This Sunday I passed by Stockholm's most gorgeous interior design store Svenskt Tenn...you may have heard of it?! Svenskt Tenn is Sweden's most classic and stylish highend interior design butik, which is also located on the most prestigious and glamourous (read expensive) street in Stockholm, Strandvägen 5. It has been iconic of Stockholm style since 1924...their designs are classic and will never ever go out of style. Just window shopping is inspiring. The stores slogan is En Magisk Värld av Ting (A Magical World of Things), they live up to every single word, as the store is warm and inviting and not at all pretentious. They carry an amazing amount of colorful textiles in many whimsical patterns, as well as glass, furniture, paper goods, etc. I especially adore the textiles. On the walls they have framed the original watercolor illustrations of the patterns. I think I could just stare at those for hours and hours.

If you are ever in Stockholm you must pass by. It is such a treat!
