Catherine...

Earlier today I saw a documentary about Catherine Deneuve and her film career... so therefore I have been obsessed with looking at photos from her most famous films. I especially adore the bright colors in Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. Belle du Jour was also a sweet little stylish sexy film. When I was 20 or so I was really obsessed with retro French movies. I loaned them in stacks from the library. I love love Francois Truffaut films especially the first and last of his Antoine Doinel series, Les Quatre Cents Coups and L'Amour en Fuite. If you have not seen them you really must. They are wonderfully quiet and beautiful and so French. hehe.

The film is French with Swedish subtitles. You can see it here if you'd like.

In the Bedroom...

Oooooo suggestive!

Our bedroom is the most complete, so time to share. Just needs a pair of thin sensual white curtains and a pair of sexy lacy curtains, a gorgeous gold glittering chandelier, plus a few more artworks in gold frames hanging on the walls. Isn't it just the coziest?! Looks warm and inviting... very intimate (teeheehee). I adore the gold glow of the lamps and the reflections of the gold frames and my silver bedspread. Can it be bedtime now?

We have down feather pillows, comforters, and mattrass. Aren't we lucky? Like sleeping in a cloud.

Cuteness/Sugar overload...

J'Adore Lingerie from Austin Hendrix on Vimeo.

I want this to be my life, hehe! Giggling, putting on lipstick, eating sweets, licking pink frosting off my perfectly manicured fingertips... plus there would always be a soundtrack of cute Brigitte Bardot songs in the background. Åhh oui oui oui

(Nah I'm not that vain... but I bet it would be fun!)

On my Vanity...

I have been working on so many collaborations and projects for others I haven't worked on any personal projects lately. Poo me! It was forever ever since I last shared a new illustration. So today I dedicated some time to making something new and ridiculously girly. Hope you like it.

A sugar sweet vintage vanity table. Wish I had room for something this glamorous in my boudoir.

Beckmans...

Fishing for some visual inspiration before I go be a good little house'wife' and make a delicious dinner for my equally delicious BF for when he comes home. (I'm good I know, wink). No better place to find it than the student portfolios of Beckmans Design School here in Stockholm, Sweden. Tons of amazing up-and-coming Swedish fashion designers. (Everyone who graduates goes on to do fabulous design work, gets major fame and glory) haha! No, but really they do!

Look at all the gorgeous fashion illustrations I found... You can also take a peek yourself here...

SVART...

Svart is black in Swedish. I like how it sounds... dark, heavy, strong. I got this thing against svart/black though. Cool fashiony people, rockstars, and Stockholmers wear all black or at least a lot of black. I'm not that cool, I can't pull it off. I also find it rather uncreative, uninspiring, and pretentious to wear all black. But don't get me wrong I wear black too. (I am wearing a black dress and black tights... always contradicting myself, dang it!) I feel like the Gestapo or a Ninja when I wear all black... so I usually laugh at myself in the mirror and then go change a piece to something with color.

I'm pretty ridiculous. Now that I got this thing about black and know that Swedes are all about the non color I try to wear not a lick of it. My winter coat is navy... so there! haha (I have a black one too... dang it! But I haven't used it all winter so it doesn't count. So there again!) Always trying to go against the stream just a smidge.

What got me thinking about svart is Lykke Li's wonderfully dark video for her vampy new song Get Some. Have you seen it? No?

enjoy...

Reminds me of the days I used to play alot with ink and water and salt. Great interesting results. You should try it!

Matchbook

I have just been carried away to the wonderfully articulate, sophisticated, and charming world of Matchbook Magazine (I am spending far too much of my 'workday' flipping through the pages and actually reading all the articles). I knew I could only expect the best from these talented ladies but I didn't know it could be this good. I am sooo pleased and honored to be associated with this new publication which strives to educate and inspire rather than just spit out trend reports and lifeless interviews.

I seriously can not wait for the future issues. I feel smarter and more sophisticated with every page turn and love that they caiter to such old souls as myself.

Make sure to make the time to be charmed by Matchbook yourself!

Have you seen?!!!!

.... The first issue of Matchbook finally arrived in our virtual mailboxes and I was a part of it! I have just been bursting to tell my little secret. I nearly fell off my chair when the super sweet Katie Armour contacted me a few months ago not only to tell me that her and her BFF Jane Lily Warren were planning to create a new lifestyle online magazine but also to tell me they would adore it if I would like to contribute. Umm Duh! I would love to! Eeek I just adore the project they assigned me too.

On the last page of every issue they shall feature my work. Hip hip! I get to illustrate a play on the "What's in my bag?" question, updated by imagining what would have been in the handbag of a famous style icon such as Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn or Coco Chanel. I hope you all enjoy this month's illustration featuring Audrey Hepburn's hand bag contents. Oh so Breakfast at Tiffany's...

Oh and the best part... they have allowed me to sell them in my little shop as a print! Take a peek here...

I wonder who next month's lady shall be? hmmm

Major Cuteness...

... and awesomeness. Enjoy!

She & Him - Don't Look Back from Merge Records on Vimeo.

p.s. Happy Friday! Have a superdeeduper weekend!

IKEA

I am a major IKEA dork. Is it because I am Swedish? Or maybe because the first initial of the names in my family spell out IKEA (Ingrid Kristina Erik Agneta)? Or is it because I have an IKEA obsessed momma? Which ever the answer is I do very much enjoy IKEA shopping trips. Yesterday we were there for 4 hours... and could have stayed longer if they hadn't closed at 8pm, hehe. We picked up lots of new things to make our new place even more cozy... wanna see?! (This is mainly of interest to my momma...)

Our shopping cart looked something like this...

Fun huh?! Hahaha Can't wait to set it all up and show you how pretty and cozy and gorgeous it is. We still haven't moved in yet, can't wait wait wait.

I promise to post something a little more interesting later. Swear...
