Rearranging my Office/Studio Space

Hello Friday!

I've been itching for a change in my home office/studio for awhile now. We've lived in our apartment for nearly 2 years and my room has stayed pretty much the same since we moved in. Change is so much fun plus a quick easy way to increase my motivation and inspiration, even if it's just subtle. So after Formex was finished I had the good problem of having more products to store. I decided to bring in the white metal shelving unit that I had at the fair and moved my desks and other cabinets around to make room. Strangely even though I have more furniture in my small space it feels more spacious, put together and even more functional. Go figure!

It's been a while since I switched out the images and clippings from my inspiration board. I really should do that since it's nice to get new ideas in my head... but this is what it looks like for now. p.s. I adore fairy lights!

In my new white shelf I have now organised all of my new products, shipping supplies, and of course my tutu. A gorgeous reminder of my ballet days. Since the shelf is so big I have plenty of room for everything and more. For the moment I'm really loving looking at my new pillow collection. Am I allowed to say that I think they are so very pretty?

My EmmaKisstina social media sign moved into my room too. Are you following me on Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook, hehe ;)

Oh and what do you think of my current view, a white Winter wonderland. Stunning right?!

Living Room Tour!

Hello Monday!

I've been bad. (At blogging that is.) But I'm back with fun content this week. Woo hoo!

To start off the week on a fun start I thought I'd give you a little tour of my living room; one of my favorite spaces in our apartment! Plus the one room that we've put the most effort into fixing since Johan and I spend a lot of time here together.

The majority of our living room furniture is from IKEA but we also have quite a few friends and family hand me downs and fun little flea market attic finds. To be honest I really love the mix! One of our favorite features of the room is our gallery wall, where we've collected a mix of my old art work, Johan's photos as well as work from other artists all in an assortment of frames of different sizes and styles. Another favorite feature is our shelving unit where we store our small collection of books and other knick knacks. I think it's a great backdrop to our simple sofa.

I also of course adore this old dynamite crate shelving unit that Johan built for our last apartment. It's a really unique piece that I think we'll love until it decides to fall apart. Here is where we house my beloved cookbooks. (I'll have to do a favorite cookbook feature some day!) Since Johan works with wine he has taken home several wine boxes which are great for storage, that you'll find all over the living room as well. Another feature I'm completely smitten with are our original shiny herringbone hardwood floors. So gorgeous!

As soon as Summer arrives we adore adding our balcony to our living space. When it's sunny and warm enough we love enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinner outside as much as possible... or just time with a book. (A favorite Sunday past time of mine.) Here is where we also grow our summer balcony herb garden. Love! This year we have thyme, 2 types of oregano, greek basil, pineapple sage, tarragon, thai basil, mint, cilantro, lemon balm, rosemary, and bay leaves. We also have an olive tree, which reminds us of the Mediterranean. All though our balcony is rather small and only seats 2 people comfortable it's a gorgeous space, that I can't imagine being without.

I absolutely adore our apartment and I feel so lucky to call such a lovely space home!

Welcome to our Living room!

Hi Wednesday!

Though it's not blogger What's in my Bag week (gonna have to wait until next week) I thought I'd share something equally fun... a peek at our living room!

Since moving in this Summer we've been slowly putting together a larger gallery wall of art. We had quite a few photos and prints from our last apartment but we have added a few new ones to fill up our larger wall space. I think it's really coming together. Don't you?

The artworks are a mix of my work (The Girl with the Nose Pearl Earring, Chanel N°5, the fish and a few others), boyfriends photos, a few of my favorite artists (such as Betsy Walton), and a few thrift store revamps (the painting with the green stripe, and the Pantone print.) They are all framed in different shaped, colored, and sized frames from IKEA, local framing stores, and thrift shops.

I really love the idea of the gallery wall as you can constantly add and take away from it as you get tired of pieces, buy new ones or just keep building until your wall is completely covered. Plus you don't have to worry about hanging frames perfectly or having to buy perfectly matching artworks. It almost looks better when there is no real rhyme or reason.

A Place of Our Own

Drum roll please... we got an apartment! This 2 bedroom stunner to be exact...

After weeks of searching, waiting, and enduring the frustration as all our favorites sold from right under our feet, we were offered to look at an apartment that wasn't yet on the market. We loved it! and now it's ours... well almost. (There's the whole money part, eek, and the waiting 3 months before moving in, aka an eternity.) So it doesn't really feel real yet. It also feels as though we got to see it for about 30 seconds, I can't remember how everything looked, or felt. Plus we have no pictures to share or drool over. But what I do remember is how gorgeously it was taken care of.

The walls are all wallpapered with gorgeous wallpapers, perfectly placed. I mean like ruler straight and perfect in every way. They are really pretty too with blue and green florals in the hall ways and a romantic simple floral in the bedroom. I think we'll only replace the current wallpaper in the living room and the extra bedroom for white walls (otherwise it may be too much of a pattern explosion.) The kitchen is a sun shiny yellow, painted perfectly too of course. No paint drips or smudges on the ceiling or mouldings... and it's really clean and fresh.

Hoping to go back soon, to get a better look, take a few photos, and get the planning started. We need furniture, like woah! We don't own a bed, sofa, wardrobes, or anything really so that part's pretty exciting too. Hope our family members have some hidden treasures in their attics.

I'm also really pleased that in the end we were able to afford a 2 bedroom so I get my very own office space. No longer will I be crammed in the corner of my living room. Can't even imagine how I'll decorate. Eek so exciting!!!

Little Vintage Gem

Isn't this tiny apartment located in southern Stockholm just the sweetest? Styled gorgeously by the great Fantastic Frank of course. They've made me even fall in love with this teeny tiny kitchen. It wouldn't be nearly large enough for the avid cook that I am, but it sure is cute (and I love the vintage look.)

I've lived this compact before (even smaller actually) and hope I never have to live this small again. I love the idea of not taking up too much space, and not have too much stuff, but my goodness we all do have lots of things. Where do people store their clothing or extra dishes etc in a place this tiny? Not to mention there is no space to entertain guests. (sadface.)

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Girly Girl Interior

Hello Saturday!

Sometimes I wonder what my apartment would look like if I didn't live with Johan. (Not that I wouldn't want to, I love sharing a home with him, and choosing items for our home together... but still one can be curious.) I never really lived on my own. I lived at home during college so I never had a dorm to decorate, when I moved to Sweden I lived at my Aunt's house. When I did live on my own, I did so for only about 6 months in a furnished apartment, and had very little money. So I didn't do much decorating.

When I saw this apartment  located in inner city Stockholm though, it felt so familiar, as if it were mine. I think it's pretty close to how I'd decorate if I had an apartment of my own. If you just switched out the ethnic items for 1700's inspired items then it would be pretty spot on. Lots of bright pink and turquoise, art on the walls, and plenty of creamy neutrals and golds in the form of cushions, throws, and candle holders.

Good thing the boyfriend and I have rather similar taste so I have a home that I love without much compromise. We have a lot of pink and turquoise at home actually, not as much pink as I'd like, but still. Maybe it's a good thing I share a home with a man, otherwise I might have lived in a pink explosion.

Have a gorgeous weekend!

Gamla Stan

How gorgeous is this quaint townhouse located in the heart of Old Town Stockholm? Amazing I know! Did you notice all the original details, warm colors and the over all cozy feel. I love the thick windowsills, the peeling paint, and maybe even the low ceilings. You can just tell it'd be a great home for reading long novels, being a prolific artist, and for consuming lots of great aged wine.
