June Favorites

Hello again Monday!

I just wanted to pop in again before June is all too far away and share some of my favorite things of the moment. Monthly favorite videos are my personal favorite videos to watch on YouTube because I think you really get to know the person through the items they like and the way they talk about them. (Which is really neat.)

This month's favorites includes everything from computer programs to makeup brushes. I hope you enjoy!

p.s. I'm still trying to figure out how to use and set up my new higher quality videos, so please bear with me while I learn. I'm pretty excited though to create more video content now that the quality is so much better and easier to work on, and hope you're looking forward to seeing more.

Face of the Day: Everyday Makeup

Hello Wednesday!

Let's talk about makeup. Yay!

I spend a lot of my time drawing makeup products, watching YouTube beauty hauls & makeup tutorials and applying cosmetics to my face. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. I adore the packaging, colors, and textures of eyeshadows, blushes and all of the pretty tools such as brushes and eyelash curlers. It just makes me so happy and I also find it very inspiring! There are countless makeup looks to try out, everything from the everyday no makeup makeup face to full on dark smokey eyes or bold lips. What's not too love?!

Not only do I think makeup itself is really pretty to look at, I love the process of applying it to my face. It's like painting on paper but to accentuate my features :)  I wear some sort of makeup nearly everyday, not because I think I need it but because it makes me feel like a magical unicorn... plus it's just sooo much fun to use. Applying makeup is really soothing and creative as well as being an everyday luxury for me. Working from home it makes me feel more polished, confident and ready for a productive work day.

I don't have a signature makeup look because I just have too many makeup products to choose from plus I love being creative... but the look above may be the closest thing I have to an everyday face.

How I started EmmaKisstina Video & New Illustrations in Shop

Hello Friday!

Been awhile since I popped in to say hello, but here I am and I have another video and new illustrations to show off.

Let's start off with the video. The other day I spent far too much time talking to myself a.k.a. the camera trying to figure out how to tell the story of how EmmaKisstina was started. There was so much stuff that I could talk about, but this time around I decided to talk about going to art school and then transitioning into what I do today. Hopefully you find it interesting even though it's a little bit long.

And then I've recently been on a drawing kick. I've sketched and inked about 6 new illustrations. Plus I've been planning even more. I have so many ideas I need to get out on paper. I haven't made new work in a long time as I've been focusing on other projects, so it will be nice to get lots of new illustrations into the shop.

What do you think of my two latest illustrations?

Watch me draw: a new silk scarf design

Hello Friday!

To end the week with something fun, I'd like to share my first ever drawing video. I'm working on creating new silk scarf designs, and this is one of them! A scarf full of gorgeous jewelry, ribbons, and lots of tiny details. With the help of time lapse I was able to cram 1 hour of drawing into 5 minutes.

Hope you enjoy the video!

Current EmmaKisstina Products Sneak Peek Video

Hello Monday!

I was in such a great mood on Saturday morning (must have had something to do with it being *cough actually sunny!) So I put on my Saturday face, even added some false lashes and got to filming. I've blabbed on about how excited I am for my new products constantly on the blog here, but it should be more interesting and fun to hear in video format. Or at least I hope so! At least now I have something physical to show you. Can't wait for the next Current EmmaKisstina Products video when I can actually show you the final products. Exciting stuff!

Enjoy!

p.s. I've got a great Cyber Monday sale going on in my EmmaKisstina Etsy shop. Use the code above to get 25% off your entire order.

What's in MY Bag! A Video

Hello Wednesday!

Today I thought it would be fun to show off what's in MY bag. I may or may not have simply forgotten to get in touch with a blogger for this week (oopsie) but hopefully you find this fun anyways! Since buying my gorgeous white leather backpack I've loved wearing it daily to carry all of my essentials when I run my usual errands around Stockholm. It's so nice to have everything on my back and out of the way of city life. Plus I think it looks really cute.

This is the last What's in my Bag of this year. Sadface. I'll hopefully start up my Blogger What's in my Bag series again in January, but I'm not sure. Sigh. The series has been so much fun for me to create, but has kind of lost momentum. I really don't want to stop these illustrations so I'll just have to figure out another way of presenting them in the new year. If you have any suggestions I'd love to here!

I'd also like to thank all of the amazing bloggers that I've had the pleasure of creating illustrations for, for my series. It's always so much fun to see how each girl's personality really shines through their favorite items. I also really appreciate all the help sharing and promoting my work too!

If you haven't seen the entire series please make sure to visit my Blogger What's in my Bag Pinterest board here...

I Bought Stuff: An Autumn Haul Video

Hello Friday!

Hooray another film! Took me awhile to film again since we've been having really horrible weather that has made lighting really really hard. Also the film I was planning on posting last week was just too bad too publish... it was just so boring, and my face looked dead. Poo! I think I've fixed the light problem though (don't know about the face problem, hehe), as I've finally invested in a studio lamp. I bought it mainly to help when I take product photos, but it will definitely help now that I've taken up filming.

So this is my first ever haul, a YouTube classic. Fun stuff! Enjoy!

Studio Tour Video!

Hello Friday!

You always seem to like it when I show off my space on Instagram and Facebook so today I thought I'd show you a closer look at my studio in video format. Fun! This is where I spend the majority of my day sitting in that chair staring into my computer screen or white pieces of paper. I also use this room as a kind of vanity. This is where I put on my face for the day or curl my hair as well. It's a real girl cave. The space is small, but completely perfect for me.

Gah, it kills me a little that I don't have better lighting in my room, the tree outside my window makes for a pleasant coziness but not amazing lighting. So some of the scenes are a little too dark. I need to invest in some better studio lighting, primarily for when I take product photos, especially since Winter is coming. Soon I'll only have a couple of daylight hours to get photos and videos filmed. Sigh.

Speaking in Swedish

Hello Friday!

I've got a little bonus video for you today, Me speaking in Swedish! As you may have gathered, I live in Stockholm and I speak Swedish on a regular basis. Although I grew up with Swedish my accent isn't completely perfect. Personally I think I sound pretty goofy, but I get by as a local most of the time. hehe. Swedish is a rather difficult language, but I find it really fun to speak.

Hope you enjoy this silly short video (don't forget to turn on the subtitles!) and have a great weekend!

Current EmmaKisstina Products

Hello Monday!

I've got another video to show off today! This time I thought it would be fun to film the current EmmaKisstina products I have in shop so you can hear my thoughts and get a little closer look at sizing that may not come across as easily in photos. This is hopefully the first video in a series because I plan on adding lots of new products in the next coming months. At the end of the film I also chat about projects I'm working on producing and ask for your opinions. I'd love to hear what you'd like to see from EmmaKisstina in the future!

Talking to no one but my phone strapped to a lamp is still quite awkward and I noticed afterward that I talk sooo slow in this one but I'm still of course learning. Self promotion is not my strong suit either, I always feel strange talking about my work, even in my room along. At least I gave it a go! (Promise I'll get better at this too)

Thanks for watching! You can subscribe to my YouTube channel here if you'd like :)

EmmaKisstina YouTube Channel

Hello Monday!

I have something rather exciting and fun to share with you today. I also feel a little bit scared to show this off as well, not because I'm embarrassed but because this is the most personal I've ever gotten with my brand. As EmmaKisstina is growing I'd like to grow too and keep up with popular trends. (That's a big part of my job!) I've noticed the move towards more and more videos on blogs and websites and I'd really like EmmaKisstina to be a part of the video community too. So therefore I've created an EmmaKisstina YouTube Channel! Video is a little out of my comfort zone since I'm not the greatest speaker but it's a good way to work on that and I'm also finding it really fun to play with a new medium. (At least so far!)

It would have been amazing if I could have right from the bat published gorgeously professional videos but at the moment I don't have an amazing filming set up (just using my cell phone and natural lighting) and I'm just learning how to use iMovie. This is definitely a work in process but I don't think my first films are that horrible though. Be nice :)

I plan on adding only one or two new short videos to my YouTube channel every month, not going to go crazy, and I have absolutely no aspirations of becoming a famous YouTuber don't worry. I'll be sharing typical YouTube tag videos mixed with videos showing off my EmmaKisstina products, and my drawing process. (Feel free to make any requests too.)

I really hope this will be a fun new way for you to learn more about me and my growing brand!

Video Interview!

Hello Tuesday!

I've got something really really exciting to share with you today... my first ever video appearance. Holy Moly!!! You finally get to hear how I sound both in English and a little pinch of Swedish, how soft spoken and slow I am, what I look like, a peek at some weird art I created in college and a few glimpses of where I work and live.

Way back in September two really lovely German girls came to Stockholm to do a video portrait of me as a part of a school project. We spent two days together exploring some of my favorite places in Stockholm, and at home in my studio where I showed off some past and present artwork. We talked about all sorts of things. There must have been sooo many hours of footage, I can't believe they were able to cut it down to under 4 minutes.

It was a really fun experience and I'm really pleased with the final outcome. I think it really portrays who I am and what EmmaKisstina is. It was a little scary to watch myself on film the first time around (man I never noticed how slow I talk... oh and is that a double chin, hehe) but I'm trying not to be too self critical. I'm actually pretty proud of myself. Go me!

So I hope you enjoy this short little film, and get to know me better.

WIMB Tutorial

Today I'd like to share with you a closer look into my digital coloring process.... with my very first video tutorial. For realsies, my first video ever! Taught myself today how to use the new video features in Photoshop CS6 in just a minutes (got a little help from the boyfriend too of course) and then within an hour or 3 I've got my first ever YouTube video posted. Yay! It's nothing fancy (no crazy effects or funky tunes) but I hope you'll get an idea of how I simply use Photoshop to create my EmmaKisstina illustrations.

Featured in the video is a custom What's in my Bag illustration for a recent wonderfully fashionable client named Lindsay.

p.s. Might be easier to read, and see details if you watch on YouTube at better quality... just sayin'
