Spring Makeup!

Hello Monday!

I had a wonderfully relaxed weekend, so I feel energised and super ready for a new week! You too?

I'm especially excited to start off the week by showing off this pretty illustration I created for blog The Beauty Gypsy last week filled with lots of new Spring makeup. Check out the blog post to learn more about these new products. Those new Clinique blushes looks so cute!

There is something about drawing makeup that I just love. I love packaging so I suppose that's the reason. Plus makeup comes in so many pretty colors, so it makes for a pretty illustration. If I could draw makeup products all day long I'd be a really happy girl!

This week I've got lots of fun projects to work on. Another gorgeous Blogger What's in my Bag will be published on Wednesday, I'm working on several sets of instant digital downloads of social media icons that you can find in shop now, and I'd like to get a few new illustrations drawn (how's abouts a few more makeup prints?!).

Style Bible

Hello Friday!

I illustrated a second book, Style Bible: What to Wear to Work! It actually came out last Fall but I wasn't given my copy until last month. This book is written by stylist Lauren Rothman and is all about what one should wear to work... especially in a professional environment for both men and women. I haven't read through the entire book just yet, but from what I've flipped through already it's packed with so many tips and tricks and great stylist insider information.

The second time around creating illustrations for a book was even more fun. Lauren was so easy to work with plus I got to try out a slightly different technique than my usual illustrations. These illustrations are all vector, and only outlines in the color light green (which I think is really fun!) I also even drew a few people, which I always find very challenging. But it was good for me to do something that I'm not so comfortable doing. They turned out nice though, right? For each chapter I created a cover illustration, ten in total,  plus a few small icons that were used throughout the book. Here is a peek at a few of my favorites...

I really love how the book turned out and am really pleased with the illustrations I created. I really hope we can work together again in the future! Oh and I of course would love to created lots and lots of illustrations for many books in the future.

Twentysomething Girl

I think it's about time we take a closer look at the first book I've ever illustrated ever. Yay! I can't even describe the feeling of holding a real published book with my illustrations through out the pages and even on the cover. Very surreal! Plus the book is just the cutest and very informative. Definitely don't have to be 20 to learn something new.

Introducing Twentysomething Girl: 1,001 Quick Tips and Tricks to Make Your Life Easier. Written by two lovely ladies Melissa Fiorenza and Laura Serino... and illustrated by me!

Isn't it sweet? You'll have to pick up a copy of your own to read the rest of the great tips and tricks... and to see the rest of my 40 or so mini illustrations.

What's In Kate Middleton's Post Baby Bag?

Oh hello huge ugly watermark, what's up?! Can't wait to see you all over my other images too. Blah.

Anyhow, here is my latest What's in my Makeup Bag collaboration illustration with blog The Beauty Gypsy featuring a Post Baby Kate Middleton. Big yay for Prince George! This illustration was super product heavy, and I can't believe I managed to fit everything in without looking too crowded. It's also really fun to imagine all the luxurious products a Duchess might use to keep up that pregnancy glow even post baby. You must visit the post to learn more about all these great Kate favorites.

The Style Bible

I have yet to show you a closer look at the first book I illustrated 'Twentysomething Girl, but I'm so excited that I can finally let you all know that I've illustrated a second book... and it has a really snazzy trailer. Take a look and get a peek at a few of the illustration I created!

It's been great working with Lauren and so fun working on a second book... especially since I got to learn a few styling tips in the process. I think the illustrations turned out really gorgeous and I can't wait to see them published in the book which comes out this Fall. Exciting stuff!

You must must must go to the blog and read how to get the Daisy look right away... here!

I'm pretty excited to see the film as well. Haven't been to the movies in forever, and I think this film will be a good pick. Glamour and Glitter!

What's in My Makeup Bag

I am so excited to finally share this new collaboration I've started with beauty blogger The Beauty Gypsy! Every two weeks or so we'll feature a new What's in My Makeup Bag illustration of an iconic style icon (similar to my traditional What's in My Bag illustrations). This week I had the pleasure of capturing Mad Men's Megan Draper (You've got to check out her post about getting the Megan look here.) Pretty fun huh?! I really look forward to creating lots and lots of these illustrations.

The B Bar

I'm so excited that The B Bar is finally open for business so that I can finally share with you all these great drink illustrations I created for them. (Well not all, I'll only show you half of them, as they haven't published all 12 just yet, too be fair.)

When Victoria contacted me with this project at the beginning of the year I was so excited (as you can imagine.) She and Meg Biram were opening a store and they wanted me to illustrate (what the what?!) I thought the project was also a little extra exciting because they were looking for a style that isn't really my regular (comfortable) style. So that was a nice little challenge, and I think they turned out nicely. Plus they were really really great to work with.

Let's take a look...

They feature my usual simple outlines and pastel palette but this time with a watercolor-esk look, which I've only done once or twice before. The watercolor look I achieved in Photoshop after vectorising my inked in lines in Illustrator. I love the simple light tutti-fruiti palette. I should do more work in this style!
Hope you like them :)

Pouf! Issue 4

Another gorgeous issue of Swedish Pouf Magazine has finally arrived, full of Spring-y inspiration, and look who's the cover girl, Elsa Billgren, the Vintage Queen herself. For this issue I created all sorts of fun illustrations, a cocktail, a perfect table setting, a map of Napa/Sonoma Valley, gallery wall inspiration and a What's in my Bag illustration of Lemon Breeland. Pretty nice I think! I just did a quick skim of the issue and it looks great, but I look forward to really reading through the entire issue later this evening. I hope you will too!

Hope you enjoy the issue and my illustrations as much as I enjoyed creating them!

T.M. Stock

Hello Wednesday!

I think it's about time I show off these gorgeous vectorised panels I created for NYC gentleman's tie company T.M. Stock. If you were wondering what that huge project I was working on all December, this is it!

These illustrations (which were then blown up and printed huge at 119"x97") were so much fun to work on though they were of course very very time consuming. I actually really enjoy the process of building images in Illustrator, though my hand at the time felt as though it may fall off. It may take 10x longer, but I feel like I'm really building something (not just scribbling on paper... though fun as well). Gathering inspiration for the interiors and small details was very enjoyable too. Working for a menswear company was also a welcomed change from my usual girly clients. Great to work on something very classic and a bit more manly. Thank goodness they are fans of pink though ;)

I worked on another amazing project with them, but I'll keep that secret from just a while longer.

Pouf! Issue 3

Did you all have a wonderful weekend? We sure did, still looking for the perfect apartment. I'm also dreaming about how we're going to design this new apartment. Since we don't really own much furniture we'll be needing a sofa, a dining table, a bed, and many other small things. There are quite a few nice apartments to choose from, but it's a bit frustrating... so many people are at the showings. I just want one to be mine and not have to duel it out with others in a bidding war. Lame!

I'm sure over the weekend you took the time to really read through the latest issue of Pouf! as I did. I may be biased as I've contributed lots of lovely illustrations, but I think it's a gorgeous publication. Here is a selection of my favorites. I especially loved the house tour of antique lover Charlotte and Johan's wine article too of course.
